Here are my indie author numbers for February. I’d like to help new indie authors set realistic expectations for themselves by being transparent about my own earnings.
February was a busy month for in-person events. I attended both the Byron Center Comic Con and the Great Lakes Comic Con. The GLCC was my most expensive event of the year to participate in because of table expense and gas. However, sales went well enough to recoup investment costs, and I met a lot of new readers and fellow creators.
There weren’t too many additional online marketing efforts this month beyond an indie author spotlight, and it shows in the drop of online sales. Usually after a live event, I’ll have a slight bump in online sales as a result of readers checking out my books afterward. I believe that’s the explanation for some of the e-book sales.
I’m pleased with the steady growth. February 2024’s number was $236.17. I’m glad I’m filling my year with live events where I can sell books in-person. Now if I could only get a better handle on those online sales!
