Here are my numbers for April. I post my earnings as an author hoping the transparency will help other indie authors as they build their career.
A lot of April was given to preparing Book 4 to launch. I attended the super fun Tulip City Comic Con in Holland, Michigan for the first time. As usual, there was an uptick in online sales the first half week after the event. I also was a guest on BookWorm, a wonderful reader podcast by José Ortiz!
I didn’t have any group promos this month, but did continue running Amazon ads and TikTok slideshows. Because there were no promos, I placed Book 1 at its full price, $4.99. Since I am a new author, I wonder if readers are less likely to buy the first book in the series at full price. I wish Amazon would have better analytics available to authors who choose not to be exclusive to them. I’d compare how many people bounce from Book 1’s product page when the book is at $2.99 and at $4.99.
