This is my monthly roundup of sales and social media growth for my indie author career. Everyone’s journey as an indie author looks different, and I hope this transparency will help my fellow authors set their own goals and expectations.
I began publishing the Alex Steward Series in September of 2023. I traveled to my first out-of-state event just this month! I crossed the state border to bring my lady werewolf and her crew to readers at the Columbus Book Festival. It was an outdoor two-day festival (well) organized by the Columbus Public Library. I invested in 3ft of table for $150. I stayed with family (no hotel fees), so the attendance / sales more than made up for the gas and table fee.
This month I still had direct sales coming in for Track the Wolf : Alex Steward Book 4. Since many of these sales are from my immediate network, they include more hardcover sales than through an online venue like Amazon.
Finally, I sorted through my mailing list and removed anyone who hasn’t opened up an email from me in the past year or ever. I’ve been meaning to do so for awhile. Before the end of the year, I’d like to send a reengagement campaign. Subscribers will either confirm they’d like to stay on the list, or they can unsubscribe. In this way, I hope to thin out uninterested subscribers even further.
